St. Ann’s Warehouse New Public Art Event: Call for Puppeteers/Volunteers
Return of the Buffalo: Tatanka Owe Akupi:
St. Ann’s Warehouse and The Walk Productions are presenting Return of the Buffalo: Tatanka Owe Akupi, a two-day public art event taking place on September 19–20, 2026.
They are currently seeking 200 volunteer puppeteers (ages 18+) to help bring this extraordinary project to life. The event will feature 50 life-sized bison puppets traveling through New York City alongside Indigenous leaders, artists, musicians, dancers, and thousands of community members in a powerful celebration of healing, resilience, and connection.
Volunteers will not only receive free elite puppeteer training from the world-renowned The Walk Productions (creators of Little Amal and The Herds) but also have the unique opportunity to work alongside First Nations Elders and internationally renowned artists. No puppeteering experience is required! Just curiosity, commitment, and a collaborative spirit.
