About

Zuly Inirio is an Afro-Latina soprano who has appeared as a soloist throughout the US and Europe. Dr. Inirio serves as the Associate Director for the Center of Ethnic Studies at the University of Pittsburgh and is also part of the leadership team in Latina Women in Opera (LWIO), a grassroots initiative dedicated to promoting and supporting femme-identifying Latina and gender non-conforming Latinx. She actively pursues bringing awareness to Afro-Latin and Afro-Latinx classical music with her ‘Afro-Latinx Song and Opera Project’. Through her artistry, scholarship, and activism, Dr. Inirio works toward equity and nuance in the dissemination of Afro-Latin and Afro-Latinx narratives.

“NLI will give me the tools and insight to better serve my community through my individual work and through my projects around Afro-Latin and Afro-Latinx communities. I am excited to connect with a diverse cohort of people who wish to be community leaders in artistic and cultural spaces.”
