Sarah Ayala is a Fort Worth native. She is rooted in her community and is striving to make art accessible. Her recent residency with the Amon Carter Museum of American Art was an outlet to connect with communities that have historically been omitted from art institutions. The residency has inspired Ayala to work with other at-risk and adjudicated youth to lower recidivism rates with art. Her work draws inspiration from world philosophies and her culture. Her drawings are cartography based, on maps. Ayala tells stories within a region or culture, directly speaking to humanity’s relationship with the passage of time.
