Sam Gomez (they/he) is a cultural developer, arts advocate, and multimedia artist in photography and design. He is the founder and owner of the nonprofit The Sagrado, and the director and co-founder of Design Empowerment. The Sagrado is the first and only art gallery and community space in South Phoenix, showcasing local artists. Gomez has directed six consecutive years of annual art shows. He also provides design and community engagement consultation for City projects (i.e., 3rd St Pedestrian/Bicycle Bridge Design). Gomez is currently working on developing The Sagrado Futuro at the Rio Salado/South Central Ave; an initiative to bring together Arts, Culture, and Design while cohesively becoming stewards to the ecosystem of the surrounding environment. “My intentions are to bring justice and equity to low-income communities in South Phoenix.”
