Milagros Ugueto de Sanchez is an Afro-Indigenous Latinx multidisciplinary artist, educator, performer, and cultural promoter born in Caracas, Venezuela. Her artistic and educational practice is deeply rooted in ancestry, language, cultural memory, and the belief that the arts can create meaningful connections across communities and diasporas.

A dedicated educator since 1998, Milagros currently serves as a licensed Spanish and ESOL teacher and department chair with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, where she has worked since 2017. Her work in education extends beyond language instruction, using creative expression, storytelling, movement, and cultural traditions to foster intercultural understanding and belonging.

Milagros is also the Co-Founder of La Casa de la Cultura / The Culture House, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating inclusive spaces for cultural exchange, artistic expression, and community engagement. Through the organization, she develops and leads programs that celebrate Afro-Latinx, Afro-Indigenous, and African Diaspora traditions through music, dance, storytelling, workshops, performances, and cultural dialogue.

As an artist, Milagros infuses her Afro-Indigenous heritage into every space she creates. Her practice embraces the intersection of traditional knowledge and contemporary cultural expression while exploring themes of identity, diversity, inclusion, language, and human interconnectedness.

She is passionate about building bridges among communities and creating opportunities for people to recognize, honor, and share their cultural heritage. Through her work, Milagros transforms cultural traditions into living experiences that invite audiences not only to witness culture, but to participate in it, learn from it, and carry it forward.
