Michelle Ruiz

Michelle Ruiz is a Mexican American visual arts management specialist and curator born and raised in Chicago, IL. Ruiz currently serves as the Program Coordinator for the U.S. Latinx Art Forum (USLAF) and is the founder of Elle Art Consulting. In December 2023, Ruiz concluded three years of service with the Berwyn Public Art Initiative as a Board Member and Curatorial Director.

As Program Coordinator of USLAF, Ruiz supports the Latinx Artist Fellowship and orchestrates the “X as Intersection” program series which brings fellows, Latinx curatorial colleagues, and USLAF Executive Committee members into conversation that highlights dynamic thematics while centering the art practice of each individual fellow.

Before joining USLAF, Ruiz served as Project Manager for Gallery 1871. In this role, she specialized in curating art collections for various market segments, from healthcare and hospitality to corporate and residential. Some of her clients included Bayhealth Medical Center Main Campus, Northwestern Medicine, Sophy Hotel Hyde Park, Sysmex – Latin America, and Northern Trust.

Ruiz holds a B.A. in visual arts management from Columbia College Chicago, and certificates from Sotheby’s Institute of Art in Art as Global Business, and from the University of Pennsylvania in Arts & Cultural Strategy.
