Manis, also known as Mariana, is a documentary filmmaker from Chihuahua, MX and a Co-Director at Femme Frontera. Through participatory methods, collaborative storytelling, and an ongoing dialogue with archival material, her work explores memory, land, and border identity. Raised on the U.S.–Mexico region, she is committed to democratizing access to filmmaking and amplifying community knowledge as a form of collective authorship.

What I hope to bring into the program is not only the specificity of this geography, but also the lessons of working in conditions where care, collaboration, and persistence are not abstract values; they are survival strategies.”
