Luis Ambriz has a passion for addressing inequality in education and the arts to build a strong and healthy community. His focus on donor efforts includes engaging corporate Employee Resource Groups along with managing MACLA’s grant portfolio. Prior to MACLA, he served as a cultural consultant for Latinx representation within a historical nonprofit context. Luis holds multiple degrees in History, including a MA from San Jose State University and a BA from the University of California, Davis. In his free time, he enjoys watching sports, exercising, and spending time with family and friends.
“Growing up as a first-generation Latinx college graduate in an underserved and under-resourced neighborhood, I want to help others who have shared experiences and provide pathways or opportunities for them. Accessibility is often a barrier for many in the art world; this is why I work so hard to fundraise for our BIPOC artist fellowship, resources and technology for youth, and advocate for our programs to be free or on a sliding scale.”
