Juan Hernandez is an incarcerated artist born and raised in Chicago. Sentenced to life as a minor, he turned to art as a way to survive both materially and mentally. His artwork has been shown at Angelica Kauffman Gallery, Fulton Street Collective, Running Down the Walls Chicago, Certain Days Calendar, Iron City Magazine, Northern Illinois University Art Museum, Art in Odd Places, and others. His writing has appeared or is forthcoming in Epiphany Zine, Intervenxions, and Teen Vogue. He is a grant recipient of The Puffin Foundation and an artist-in-residence with CPS Lives.
