About
Janel Pineda is a Salvadoran poet and U.S. Central American literary scholar. Her debut chapbook, Lineage of Rain, was published by Haymarket Books in 2021. Pineda has performed her poetry internationally in both English and Spanish, and her work has been published in various anthologies. Pineda holds dual master’s degrees in creative writing and Latin American Studies from the University of London and the University of Cambridge respectively, where she studied as a Marshall Scholar. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Chicana/o and Central American Studies at UCLA, where her research explores poetry as a liberatory and healing practice for Central American communities.
