Imelda Carrasco (she/her/ella) is the Executive Director of Acción Latina, a San Francisco nonprofit reimagining what cultural arts and community media can look like when Latiné communities are at the center. A first-generation daughter of Mexican immigrants raised in a family of creatives, Imelda developed a deep understanding of how traditions and stories are passed down through art and how those mediums carry the cultural weight of entire communities.
As a queer Latina, Imelda’s identity is the connective tissue between her personal values and her professional work. She believes that true community building requires holding space for the full complexity of who we are, and that intersectionality is not an afterthought but a foundation. That commitment extends beyond Acción Latina, including her board service with the Harvey Milk LGBTQ Club.
Her background spans media, policy, and grassroots organizing, having served as Publisher of 48 Hills and Legislative Aide for the City and County of San Francisco. All of it, her roots, her identity, and her experience, informs how she leads and why she leads.
