Contratiempo is a literary organization that highlights the cultural contributions of the Spanish-speaking diaspora in the US. Founded in 2003 by Latine/x immigrant poets and writers as a print publication, Contratiempo creates bicultural programs that center socially conscious literature, art, and cultural journalism.
Our mission is to uplift immigrant stories; foster emerging writers and artists; serve immigrant communities and second-generation audiences with a bilingual, bicultural identity; facilitate cultural exchange between creators in the U.S. and Latin America
