About

Contratiempo is a literary organization that highlights the cultural contributions of the Spanish-speaking diaspora. Our bilingual programs showcase the art, literature and journalism of immigrant communities and also facilitates exchanges between poets and writers in the USA, Latin America and Spain. We highlight vital immigrant stories and serve a second-generation audience with a bilingual, bicultural identity. Our all-immigrant team also leads the organization, creating, curating and executing all programs presented on the page, our digital publication, the airwaves and the stage. These include: Revista Contratiempo, a quarterly flagship publication, Radio Contratiempo on Lumpen Radio; ongoing creative writing workshops; Poetry readings and talks in collaboration with other local literary organizations and festivals; Poesía en Abril, Spanish-language international poetry festival and Caracol Gathering Space in the Burnham Wildlife Corridor and most recently, English to Spanish-language translation of works by non-Spanish-language writers and poets.
