Artesanía: Patrimonio Cultural en El Barrio Chamizal
To support a “Tianguis del Chamizal” in the Chamizal neighborhood of El Paso, one of the poorest neighborhoods in the nation due to years of marginalization. This event will focus on ancestral arts and feature three traditional Mexican artists and weavers, textile artists, potters, and/or woodworkers who will lead participatory workshops about their art form for neighborhood residents. They will also share their methods and history with the event’s resident organizing committee and the broader El Paso/Juarez community. This program will build on and merge two of our organization’s initiatives: Proyecto Verde and La Red Niu Matat Napawika.
