The Wandering House

To support the development and implementation of The Wandering House, a interdisciplinary project by Cecilia Cornejo featuring an ice-fishing house retrofitted as a mobile audio-recording studio. Originally from Chile and a long time resident of Northfield, Minnesota, the artist will invite community members to record their oral testimonies as they reflect on the significance of “home” and how current debates surrounding immigration affect this notion. The Wandering House will offer a powerful metaphor designed to encourage curiosity and reflection, engaging the community in the production of collective, mutual knowledge, while challenging the prevailing representations of rural people and immigrants alike.
