About

Alyssa M. Garcia (she/her) is a first-generation integrative Chicanx artist and educator whose work centers on restructuring educational approaches and learner experiences through community advocacy and arts education. She is the current Director of Education and Programming at Las Fotos Project overseeing visual arts curriculum design, impact evaluation, and educator training. She credits her passion for education to her parents’ involvement in the East LA Walkouts. She is a graduate of CSULA’s Urban Learning department, where she pursued both single subject (art) and multiple subject credentials.

“Events of the last few years have catalyzed the arts and culture landscape in ways never imagined. I’m eager to learn alongside other Latinos as we collaborate towards navigating these old yet new spaces of passion and purpose, and reimagine ways to continue bringing others into the fold.”
