Airdremaliz Ortiz Alers is an Afro-Puerto Rican cultural practitioner born and raised in Puerto Rico. She currently serves as Manager of MAC en el Barrio, a cultural equity program at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico, where she leads initiatives that connect communities through inclusive educational and cultural programming. Her work centers on strengthening intergenerational participation, leadership, and equitable access to the arts across diverse audiences.
With over 23 years of experience as an educator certified by the Department of Education and the International Baccalaureate PYP, Ortiz Alers brings extensive knowledge of both public and private educational systems. She has also held key roles in museum education, including positions at the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico and Museo de Arte de Ponce at MAP@PLAZA.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications (Visual Arts concentration, minor in Education) from Universidad del Sagrado Corazón (1996–2002), a postgraduate certificate in Event Production and Marketing from USC (2023), coordinated Puerto Rico Negrx (2023–2024), joined MAC en el Barrio, and completed her Master of Arts in Public Relations and Integrated Communications (2025).
