Lia Uribe is assistant professor of bassoon at the University of Arkansas, principal bassoonist of SoNA, and member of the Lyrique Quintette. Uribe maintains an active career as a chamber-musician, orchestral-player and artist-teacher. Her international work includes concerts in Colombia/Canada/Puerto Rico/Costa Rica/Finland/Ecuador/Germany/Greece and Japan. She has also played and taught in multiple USA-venues. As an advocate of new music Dr. Uribe has commissioned and premiered new works for the bassoon. Her research interest is centered on Latin-American music and composers. Originally from Colombia, she holds degrees in bassoon performance from Universidad Nacional Colombia, University of Arkansas, and University of Kansas
