The NALAC Advocacy Leadership Institute is building the next generation of arts advocates.
Supporting people of color shaping arts advocacy.
Through the NALAC Advocacy Leadership Institute, participants are equipped with necessary tools to communicate effectively with elected officials, lead proactive efforts in their own communities, and understand the frameworks involved in shaping cultural policy.
The yearly NALAC Advocacy Leadership Institute (ALI) is a three-day intensive training program in Washington, D.C. with sessions taking place on Capitol Hill, the National Endowment of the Arts, Americans for the Arts and various Smithsonian institutions.

Due to COVID-19, fellows, faculty and NALAC staff were unable to travel to Washington D.C. in 2020. The Advocacy Leadership Institute adapted components of its D.C. on-site training into additional virtual sessions for the remainder of the program. 2020 fellows will join the 2021 cohort in Washington, D.C.
