Transnational Cultural Remittances Program (TCR)
Between 2008 and 2016, TCR supported exemplary cultural exchanges promoting grassroots artistic collaboration and strengthening social networks between linked communities in the United States, Mexico and Central America.
Strengthening artistic and cultural bridges.
Launched in 2008 with support from the Ford Foundation, the Transnational Cultural Remittances (TCR) grant program promoted grassroots artistic collaboration and strengthened social networks between the United States, Mexico and Central America. Over $515,000 was awarded in Transnational Cultural Remittances grants through a dedicated portfolio from the Ford Foundation.
The 2017 edition focused on bridging air travel support through NALAC’s partnership with Southwest Airlines for transnational arts and culture.
We invite Latinx artists and arts organizations to seek funding support from the NALAC Fund for the Arts.
Building reciprocal relationships.
Cultural remittances can take different forms and may be transmitted through direct personal activity or electronic means of transmission. They are rooted in everyday life and demonstrate reciprocal or two-way impact.
The TCR grant supported projects that built upon and extended cultural knowledge across borders and result in an ongoing exchange of knowledge, customs and creativity from one country to another.
The Transnational Cultural Remittances(TCR) Grant is made possible thanks to generous support from our funders, sponsors and partners. Thank you NALAC Members, Funders, Donors and wonderful Volunteers.
