Building knowledge.
Our Research Initiatives are meant to support the production of knowledge about Latinx artistic and cultural practices and seeks to increase the understanding of our social and creative significance.
Learning Latinidades
The many Latinidades that shape our communities are at the core of our research. We believe the individuals, organizations, and culture bearers working throughout the country are able to decisively generate ideas, information and experiences that inform the entire field of arts and cultural production. Our research intends to support, recognize, and advance learning from these efforts.

National Survey of Latinx Arts and Culture Organizations
NALAC is conducting a survey of Latinx organizations to prompt a better understanding of our many Latinidades as generative sources for both current and emerging creative ecologies. The goals of this national survey are two-fold:
-
-
- To create an online directory of Latinx arts, cultural, and social-justice organizations.
- To initiate a process of further research into the state of Latinx organizational work taking place during this crucial moment of our nation’s history.
-

Unique trajectories toward a shared future
As our growing Latinx population moves toward a common future, we continue to benefit from our vast diversity. The unique ethnic, racial, economic, and cultural differences that informed our histories become relevant features that equip our ability to flourish through changing demographics. Researching and learning from our ongoing trajectories is an advantage we can all share.

A Call to Collaborate
In 2016, NALAC launched the Houston Research Initiative to survey and assess the state of the ecosystem of Latino arts and cultural communities in Houston. With generous support from Houston based donors, artist and cultural organizations, a report was released on September 14, 2018 during the inaugural “Latino Arts Day In Houston.”
