Global Fridays: Sammy DeLeon and his Latin Jazz Ensemble (Salsa)

Arab American National Museum

Partner: Sammy DeLeon and his Latin Jazz Ensemble

To support the presentation of Sammy DeLeon and his Latin Jazz Ensemble as part of the Winter 2017 Global Fridays series in April at the Arab American National Museum. DeLeon was born and raised in Lorain, Ohio, and credits his love of music to his large Puerto Rican family; he was once called the “hottest and most innovative timbalero” by Latin jazz great Tito Puente. This program brings together immigrant, Arab American, and Latino communities, encouraging interaction among the many groups who live adjacent to each other yet rarely engage with one another. This will be the third Latin jazz artist presented at the AANM thanks to support from NALAC.
