To support Here & Now 2016, in which Miami Light Project will commission and present four new pieces created by Miami-based Latino artists – Carla Forte, Natalia Lassalle Morillo, Charo Oquet and Sandra Portal-Andreu. Artists receive a commission award, rehearsal space and production support in preparation for the premiere of their pieces on May 12-14 and 19-21, 2016, at The Light Box at Goldman Warehouse in Miami's Wynwood Arts District. Carla Forte will create a  dance and video art piece that plays with ideas of femininity and masculinity. Charo Oquet will present “The Miami Flyers”, an installation that will use audience interaction, ritual and performance to look at the relationship among Miami’s Haitian, Cuban and Dominican communities.  For “Drowning: Part II”, Natalia Lassalle Morillo will pay homage to aging through the bodies and personal stories of five elderly women, incorporating text, dance and film to portray their fragility, solitude and companionship. Choreographer Sandra Portal-Andreu will use dialogue, film, sound and movement to look at how women can be their own worst enemies.
