NALAC Announces 2009 TCR Grant Recipients New Program Awards $107,000 to Transnational ProjectsSAN ANTONIO – The National Association of Latino Arts and Culture (NALAC) is pleased to announce that the 2009 NALAC Transnational Cultural Remittances (TCR) Grant will award $107,000 to support eleven projects. This new grant program seeks to identify and support exemplary cultural exchange projects that support grassroots artistic and cultural practices and strengthen social networks across national boundaries in transnational communities. One and two year grants were available for projects that link two or more of the following countries: Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, and United States. NALAC and NPN Partner to Expand Opportunities for Latino Artists and PresentersThe National Association of Laitno Arts and Culture (NALAC) and the National Performance Network (NPN) announced a partnership to expand opportunities for Latino artists and presenters to tour performing artists' work in the United States. This effort, funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, directs professional development opportunities and subsidy opportunities and provides scholarships for NALAC and NPN members to attend the NALAC 20th Anniversary National Conference and the NPN 2010 Annual Meeting.

"The Mexican Revolution in the Greater El Paso Borderlands" Starts Jan. 21 at the El Paso Museum of History in El Paso, TX
Lecture series at the El Paso Museum of History commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Mexican Revolution. January 21, Univerity of Arizon Professor Dr. Oscar Martinez will speak on the borderlands' significance in the Mexican Revolution. February 18, Dr. Maceo Dailey, Humanities Texas board member and professor of history at The University of Texas at El Paso, will give a lecture tiled "Booker T. Washington in El Paso During the Mexican Revolution." March 25, Dr. Yolanda Levya, writer and professor of history at UTEP, will speak about the experience of local children during the revolution.
All lectures will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the El Paso Museum of History, 510 North Santa Fe Street.

San Antonio Neighborhood Film Project Competition Submission Deadline: Feb. 18
The City of San Antonio Office of Cultural Affairs is sponsoring The San Antonio Neighborhood Film Project to celebrate the opening of three new neighborhood discovery tours. The three tours are the Westside "Murals y Más" tour; the Eastside "Echoes of the Eastside" tour; and the "Downtown North River" tour stretching from downtown to the new Museum Reach river extension. The tours are available at www.saculturaltours.com. The San Antonio Film Project is a film competition open to San Antonio student and non-student (professional/amateur) filmmakers whose original pieces capture the flavor and authenticity of each neighborhood profiled in the tour.
