Oscar Wilde Award Deadline Jun 27 This award will be given to the best previously unpublished original poem written in English (of any length, in any style, typed, double spaced on one side only), which best relates alternative lifestyles, often referred to as gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgendered, by a poet who is 18 or older.

2009 Art Kudos Competition Deadline Jun 30 The Art Kudos competition is an annual international juried competition that serves to recognize and honor excellence in the visual arts. Artists who are selected as finalists benefit from world-wide exposure in a year-long online exhibition (www.artkudos.com) and have the opportunity to win cash awards for their exemplary work. A total of $3,750 will be awarded in the 2009 competition.

Artist Residencies in Lanesboro: Inspiration and Integration Deadline Jun 30 The Cornucopia Art Center / Jerome Foundation Residency Program offers two-week and four-week residencies to emerging artists each year. The program is designed to provide opportunities for emerging artists to create new work.
Artists from all disciplines are encouraged to apply, though primary consideration will be given to emerging sculptors, painters, poets, and writers with at least one residency each year focused on public art. Applicant artists must reside in the United States. Living and working space is provided. Stipends of up to $2,500 for a four-week residency are provided for up to six artists each year.

Grants Encourage Innovative Youth Programs Deadline Jul 1The mission of the American Legion Child Welfare Foundation is to provide nonprofit organizations with a means to educate the public about the needs of children across the United States. The Foundation supports organizations that contribute to the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual welfare of children through the dissemination of knowledge about new and innovative programs designed to benefit youth; or through the dissemination of knowledge already possessed by well-established organizations. The City of Austin requests qualifications from visual artists/design professionals, at least 18 years of age who live or work in Austin and the surrounding area within a 100 mile radius. Artists/design professionals who have completed a public art project through Austin Art in Public Places within the past 5 years, or who are currently under contract with a contract value of over $25,000 are ineligible to apply. Federal Economic Recovery Act Funds Deadline Jul 7 The objective of the Strengthening Communities Fund (SCF) is to enable nonprofit organizations to contribute to the economic recovery and help Federal, State, local, and Indian/Native American Tribal governments ensure that the information and services described in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) reach disadvantaged and hard-to-serve populations.
The focus of this program is to build the capacity of nonprofit organizations, whether secular or faith based, to address the broad economic recovery issues present in their communities, including helping low-income individuals secure and retain employment, earn higher wages, obtain better-quality jobs, and gain greater access to state and Federal benefits and tax credits, including ARRA benefits.

TEADAWORKS 2009-10 Call for Artists Deadline Jul 10 Deadline Extended! TeAda is currently planning our TEADAWORKS workshop and development lab for next season. This annual LAB offers artists a rare opportunity to work intensively and collaboratively to develop new performance works through master classes, workshops and informal open rehearsal presentations. Priority for the 2010 LAB will focus on INTERCULTURAL COLLABORATIONS and TRANSNATIONAL PERSPECTIVES. All are encouraged to apply.
TeAdaWorks 2009-2010 will consist of a 10-week workshop series in Fall 2009 followed by a 2-week development lab in January 2010. Writing the Immigrant Experience Deadline Jul 15The story of America is the story of immigration. Whether legal or illegal, whether experienced first hand or through the lives of our foremothers and fathers, the phenomenon of immigration has touched nearly every American life. This class will explore the story of immigration through the works of authors of both fiction and nonfiction who have chronicled the immigrant experience. Students should bring their own immigrant stories, be they written or oral, to share with the class. The forms and styles that immigrant stories may take will be discussed, and students will be given the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned during an in-class writing session.

The Bard Fiction Prize Deadline Jul 15 This prize is awarded to a promising, emerging writer who is an American citizen aged 39 years or younger at the time of application. In addition to the monetary award, the winner receives an appointment as writer in residence at Bard College for one semester, without the expectation that he or she teach traditional courses. The recipient gives at least one public lecture and meets informally with students.
To apply, candidates should write a cover letter explaining the project they plan to work on while at Bard and submit a C.V., along with three copies of the published book they feel best represents their work. No manuscripts will be accepted. Applications for the 2010 prize must be received by July 15, 2009.

What Moves You? 48 Hour Challenge Deadline Jul 17 Dance Films Association announces a new initiative encouraging dancers & filmmakers to respond actively to news about their world. Participants in the WHAT MOVES YOU 48 Hour Challenge will complete a short film inspired by a story from a newspaper or news radio source within 2 days of its publication. Designed as DFA's 2009 Choreographers Initiative, this challenge sets time and costs at a minimum to foster collaboration and keep the production process simple. Creativity and style will be judged as more important than budget or scale; the goal is to compose a spontaneous response as a dance film.

Artist Residency Program in Austin, TX Through Aug 28
The Serie Print Project is accepting applications from May 1 - August 28, 2009. The Serie Project accepts emerging and established professional artists who produce original works using any visual medium, are 18 years or older, and not currently enrolled in an educational institution. A Master Printer is provided to guide resident artists through the printmaking process, so knowledge of serigraphy is not required for eligibility. The Serie Project focuses on Latino artists but is not exclusive. Each accepted artist can select a one- or a two-week residency to produce one design and create up to 50 serigraph prints, plus additional proofs, half of which the artist will keep. The Serie Project provides accommodations for resident artists, but cannot pay for travel expenses. Printing will take place at Coronado Studio in Austin, Texas, between January and July, 2010. Scriptwriting Contest Deadline Aug 28 The National Latino Media Council is accepting applications for a scriptwriting contest that will be read by network television executives. The winning scripts could ultimately end up as the basis for a show.
Writers selected based on their applications will spend Nov. 7 through Dec. 12 in Los Angeles, where they will be expected to complete at least one script.
Participants will earn $250 per week and travel, housing and meals will be provided.
Writers must fill out a program application and send in a biography, one writing sample in electronic and print versions, notarized release forms and one paragraph explaining you want to write for television. Scripts must be in English and writing teams are not allowed.

Texas Filmmakers Travel Grant Deadline Aug 31Each year, more and more Texas filmmakers are showing their work at major festivals like Sundance, Cannes, Toronto, Los Angeles, Tribeca, Slamdance and many others. But, these invitations usually come when filmmakers have exhausted their finances just getting their films finished. So, the Austin Film Society will set aside $10,000 annually from the funds raised for the Texas Filmmakers Production Fund to establish a travel grant program for Texas filmmakers on a rolling, year-round basis. The program is intended to help offset travel costs for Texans whose work is invited to prestigious film festivals and events around the world. Eligibility is based on the festival or event that the film has been invited to, not on the film itself. OCTOBER EZ Arts Access Grant in West Virginia Deadline Oct 1EZ Arts Access is a funding program designed to create an easy access point into funding for small communities and organizations with small budgets. EZ Arts Access can also serve non-arts organizations with arts projects. This is a simplified application process with the opportunity for application two times per year, allowing for special opportunities that occur after the West Virginia Commission on the Arts (WVCA) early deadlines have passed. The Mini Grant program has limited funds that are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The grant pool is replenished each July 1st. Early application is advised. Community groups include family, tribal, ethnic, regional, occupational or religious. Traditional artistic skills (music, craft, dance or other) are passed on through observation and imitation, rather than by formal training. Project grants - maximum request is $1,500. Hot Iron Press Visiting Artist Program
The Hot Iron Press Visiting Artist Program grants artists from outside New Orleans the opportunity to introduce printmaking processes into their body of work while interacting with the city’s art communities. Artists working in any discipline or media are welcome. Over a period of up to two weeks, residents will produce an edition of works using screenprinting, relief, or letterpress printing; the program culminates with an exhibition and lecture at the artist-run The Front (http://www.nolafront.org/). Selected artists will receive a stipend to cover airfare, food, transportation, accommodations, and materials, and all residents have free access to on-site facilities and technical assistance. To apply, submit by email or post a written proposal, résumé, 10-20 previous work samples, and any visuals related to the proposed project such as diagrams, sketches, photographs, and mock-ups.

While local community priorities determine how funding is allocated, grants typically fall into four main categories: Community Development, Education, Health and Human Services, and Arts and Culture. Each of the company's markets, in partnership with local community leaders, sets specific target areas of interest within these major categories. There are no deadlines for grant applications. RFQ from the City of San AntonioThrough this Request for Qualifications, (RFQ), the City of San Antonio’s Department of Community Initiatives (City) seeks qualified firms, artists, consultants, academic institutions, non-profit organizations, public policy research institutions, etc. to provide professional and personal consulting services. The City will use responses from qualified respondents to compile a vendor list which will be maintained for use by the City to enter into Professional Services Contracts on an “as needed” or “as requested” basis. Contracts through this RFQ could begin anytime after issue of this RFQ and upon receipt of acceptable Qualifications from a respondent. There is no deadline for application submission, however, as needs are identified, contracts will be awarded. Therefore a respondent, who submits early in the process, will be afforded a greater opportunity to contract with the City. The City will contract with selected consultants to provide services in the following categories: Artistic Services; Planning; Research and Development; Staff/Volunteer Training; Volunteer Income Tax Assistance site operations; and Direct Professional Services. Sweet Tooth of the Tiger Artist Bake Sale Residency Program in Brooklyn, NYSweet Tooth of the Tiger, a renegade bake sale project based in Brooklyn, NY, offers artists an opportunity to bake as part of its Artist Bake Sale Residency Program. Accepted artists are assigned to a bake sale event at an arts institution, for which he or she will bake sweets. Sweet Tooth of the Tiger will coordinate the bake sale with a gallery opening, book launch, film screening, or other arts event, supply the table, and interview the artist during the sale for a later post to the Sweet Tooth blog. Artists pocket all money raised at the sale, to fund a particular project of interest, except for a small percentage donated to the residency to sustain the program. American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 Grants in KansasApplications are accepted beginning July 1, 2009, at 8:30 am. The Kansas Arts Commission, through the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, will provide one-time financial assistance to most nonprofit, tax-exempt charitable 501(c)3 arts and cultural organizations or governmental arts and cultural entities eligible for Fiscal Year 2009 and/or Fiscal Year 2010 KAC Operational Support Grants. These special, one-time grants must be used for: salary support, full or partial, for one or more positions that are critical to an organization’s artistic mission and that are in jeopardy or have been eliminated as a result of the current economic climate and/or fees for previously engaged artists and/or contractual personnel to maintain or expand the period during which such persons would be engaged. Development (fundraising) positions are not eligible for support through this program or any other federal program. If funds are requested for a position that includes development activities, pro-rate the percentage of salary spent on development and exclude that amount from the request. New England States Touring Support for Organizations and ArtistsNew England States Touring (NEST) provides support to nonprofits for performances, readings, and related community activities by artists that have met the eligibility criteria for the NEST program. Performing and literary artists eligible for NEST represent a wide range of disciplines, such as music, dance, opera, musical theater, poetry, writing, interdisciplinary work, and folk arts. Nonprofit presenters* may apply for NEST funding to help support an engagement by a NEST-eligible artist, as long as that artist is based outside of the presenter’s home state. A "presenter" may be any nonprofit organization that is interested in bringing cultural arts programming to its community. Libraries, schools, theaters, service agencies, and arts organizations are all examples of eligible nonprofits that can apply for NEST funding. NEST grants are available in amounts of up to 50% of the artists' fees inclusive of honoraria, travel, and per diem. Minimum grants are $200 and applications with requests below that amount will not be accepted. Grant awards are typically between $200 and $3,000. NEST-eligible Artists on MatchBook.org. The deadline for submitting an application and mailing support materials for the Transnational Cultural Remittances (TCR) is Friday, July 24, 2009. The TCR program is designed to increase understanding, support and recognition of the cultural impact of continued migration and connection between Mexico, Central America and the United States. This program is available to individuals, collectives and community-based organizations in the United States, Mexico and Central America that are engaged in the practical exchange of culture through transnational community connections developed and maintained by culturally and economically-linked communities. Through the TCR, NALAC and the Ford Foundation seek to identify exemplary cultural exchange projects that support grassroots artistic and cultural practices and strengthen social networks and economic justice across national boundaries.
