New Orleans, LA + Changing Landscapes, a Dialogue between Art and the Environment Deadline Jun 19

The world's natural and built environments are endangered and the need to seriously engage contemporary thinking about these disappearing landscapes through the creation of art is of paramount importance. A Studio in the Woods, located in the Louisiana wetlands, has observed firsthand the dynamic nature of this rapidly changing territory which in turn affects the entire northern hemisphere. We envision this as a powerful context for the exploration of critical thinking, the development of new ideas and strategies, and using the creative process as a catalyst for social change. Artists are invited to design their own interface with the public and are encouraged to propose ways to engage the larger community of New Orleans and beyond. Four six-week residencies which include a stipend and supply budget are to be offered between September 2009 and April 2010. Local Community Programs Supported by Bank of America Charitable Foundation: Local Grantmaking

The Bank of America Charitable Foundation works to create neighborhood excellence in the communities served by the bank in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. While local community priorities determine how funding is allocated, grants typically fall into four main categories: Community Development, Education, Health and Human Services, and Arts and Culture. Each of the company's markets, in partnership with local community leaders, sets specific target areas of interest within these major categories. There are no deadlines for grant applications. Visit the company's website to access the priorities for local funding in each region.

New England States Touring Support for Organizations and Artists

New England States Touring (NEST) provides support to nonprofits for performances, readings, and related community activities by artists that have met the eligibility criteria for the NEST program. Performing and literary artists eligible for NEST represent a wide range of disciplines, such as music, dance, opera, musical theater, poetry, writing, interdisciplinary work, and folk arts.
