In January 2009, in response to growing concern about the effects on our community of the economic downturn, NALAC took a leadership role in several national advocacy efforts and participated in meetings in Washington, DC with representatives from the Obama administration as well as the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. In February 2009, NALAC, working alongside Americans for the Arts and other national arts service organizations, played an important role in getting $50 Million dollars in economic stimulus funds for the National Endowment for the Arts.
