Applications are accepted beginning July 1, 2009, at 8:30 am. The Kansas Arts Commission, through the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, will provide one-time financial assistance to most nonprofit, tax-exempt charitable 501(c)3 arts and cultural organizations or governmental arts and cultural entities eligible for Fiscal Year 2009 and/or Fiscal Year 2010 KAC Operational Support Grants.

These special, one-time grants must be used for: salary support, full or partial, for one or more positions that are critical to an organization’s artistic mission and that are in jeopardy or have been eliminated as a result of the current economic climate and/or fees for previously engaged artists and/or contractual personnel to maintain or expand the period during which such persons would be engaged. Development (fundraising) positions are not eligible for support through this program or any other federal program. If funds are requested for a position that includes development activities, pro-rate the percentage of salary spent on development and exclude that amount from the request.

New England States Touring Support for Organizations and Artists

New England States Touring (NEST) provides support to nonprofits for performances, readings, and related community activities by artists that have met the eligibility criteria for the NEST program. Performing and literary artists eligible for NEST represent a wide range of disciplines, such as music, dance, opera, musical theater, poetry, writing, interdisciplinary work, and folk arts. Nonprofit presenters* may apply for NEST funding to help support an engagement by a NEST-eligible artist, as long as that artist is based outside of the presenter’s home state.  A "presenter" may be any nonprofit organization that is interested in bringing cultural arts programming to its community. Libraries, schools, theaters, service agencies, and arts organizations are all examples of eligible nonprofits that can apply for NEST funding.

NEST grants are available in amounts of up to 50% of the artists' fees inclusive of honoraria, travel, and per diem. Minimum grants are $200 and applications with requests below that amount will not be accepted. Grant awards are typically between $200 and $3,000.
